Solar Panels for Recycling and Waste Management Sites

Balers, shredders, conveyors and sorting lines use lots of electricity through the working day. We design and fit solar panels and batteries for recycling and waste sites, built to handle the fire, dust and safety risks you deal with.

Your Challenges, Solved

Engineered for Demanding Sites

Recycling and waste sites are some of the hardest places to fit solar. That’s where engineering and safety know-how matter.

The challenge

Power-hungry machinery

Balers, shredders, conveyors and sorting equipment make electricity bills very high.

→
Our solution

Solar sized to your plant

We study your half-hourly meter readings so solar covers as much of your daytime machinery use as possible.

The challenge

Higher fire risk

Waste sites have a higher fire risk, and insurers look closely at any rooftop system.

→
Our solution

Designed with fire safety first

We plan the layout, cable routes, switch-offs and equipment positions with RC62 and your insurer in mind.

The challenge

Dust and debris

Dust in the air can settle on panels and lower output over time.

→
Our solution

Monitoring and maintenance

Monitoring spots any drop in output, and we plan inspections and cleaning when needed.

The challenge

Busy, high-risk operations

Plant, HGVs and loaders are always moving, so keeping contractors safe is critical.

→
Our solution

Our own CDM and H&S team

Under CDM (UK construction safety law), we agree safe working, traffic control and lifting plans with your site team.

The challenge

Electrifying plant and fleet

Switching to electric loaders and vehicles will push your power use up further.

→
Our solution

Solar and storage for the future

We design with future electric plant and your grid connection limits in mind.

Safety First

Solar Designed Around Your Risk Profile

On waste and recycling sites, solar must be designed around fire, access and day-to-day risks, not just roof space. Our engineers and in-house health and safety team plan every detail, so you, your insurer and your regulator can trust the installation.

FAQs

Recycling & Waste Solar Questions

Is solar safe on a waste or recycling site?

Yes, when it’s designed properly. We follow RC62 fire safety guidance, think about where waste is piled, cable routes and how to switch the system off, and give your insurer the paperwork.

Will our insurer accept rooftop solar?

Insurers often ask detailed questions about solar on higher-risk sites. We design with their needs in mind and give them the information they ask for. Speak to your insurer early.

Will dust affect performance?

Dust can lower output over time. Monitoring shows when output drops, and inspections and cleaning can be booked as part of a maintenance plan.

Can installation happen while we operate?

Yes. We plan the work with your site team, with traffic control, no-go zones and lifting plans, so you can keep working safely.
